Extra coverage options for peace of mind

These extra coverage options must be purchased separately.
  • Car replacement

    Car replacement option, if you have purchased the appropriate BALTA MOD policy coverage:

    • rental car – from BALTA partners, according to the limit of the number of days of use of the replacement car specified in the policy. The rental car will be delivered or picked up at a place of your convenience;
    • taxi services – within the limit of the number of days of replacement car use indicated in the policy, without exceeding EUR 20 per day;
    • shared vehicles (cars, bikes, electric scooters) – within the limit of the number of days of replacement car use indicated in the policy, without exceeding EUR 20 per day.

  • Accident insurance

    If you choose the extra coverage "Accident insurance", then – in the most serious accidents, where not only the car but also its driver or passengers are injured, BALTA will pay indemnity for:

    • temporary work incapacity or the period of time during which the injured person will be unable to carry out their work duties;
    • medical expenses, for instance, outpatient or inpatient therapy, as well as medicines prescribed by the physician;
    • injuries or health problems directly caused by the accident;
    • disability, if the impairment caused by the accident is permanent;
    • the death of the injured person.

  • 24-hour roadside assistance

    The options offered by the Roadside Assistance service, if your car has been damaged in an accident or cannot continue on the road because of a defect:

    • telephone advice, including help with completing the European Accident Statement;
    • on-site technical assistance, for instance, replacement of a wheel or opening of jammed doors;
    • towing to a service station, if help cannot be provided on site;
    • a taxi service to take the driver or passengers to their destination;
    • hotel expenses, if the accident has occurred outside Latvia.

Submitting a claim

What do I do after an incident?

  • Make sure you and other people in the vehicle are safe!
  • Prevent the damage from getting worse!
  • Inform the authorities in charge:
    •    State Policeif your vehicle has been stolen or stolen from, or if a third party has damaged it intentionally or unintentionally.
    •    Municipal Police if the damage to the vehicle has been caused by falling objects due to the negligence of a third party, e.g., snow or ice falling from the roof of a building.
    •    State Fire and Rescue Service if the damage to the vehicle has been caused by fire or explosion.
    •    Traffic Police if the accident has caused injury to persons, damage to the property of a third party or damage to a vehicle that prevents or prohibits it from being used in traffic.
  • Report the accident to BALTA and claim the insurance proceeds within 3 working days.

Yes, the payment of the premium can be split into 2, 4, 6, or 12 instalments.

Regardless of where the incident or technical failure occurred, you must contact BALTA by calling 67533375 or by calling ‘Roadside assistance’ via the app or this link.

For most cars, the factory-installed anti-theft devices should suffice for a contract. Owners of more expensive cars, which are particularly popular with thieves, may be asked to install an additional security system.

Use the additional roadside assistance service, requesting assistance using this link or the app, or by calling the roadside assistance line, on 67533375. The service can be used if an insured event occurs or if there is a simple technical failure, such as not being able to start the engine.

  • If no one was injured or killed in the traffic accident.
  • If there was no damage to the property of a third party.
  • If only two vehicles were involved in the accident.
  • If the vehicles did not suffer damage that prevents or prohibits them from continuing their trips.
  • If the drivers agree on all the key circumstances of the accident.

BALTA does not make it mandatory to report an accident to the police if this is not required by the Road Traffic Regulations.

  • If the accident involves one vehicle and no third party or property of a third party is damaged.
  • If the vehicle has been damaged by an object picked up from the road, such as a stone, the driver can leave the scene.
