Solar panel insurance
Solar panel insurance protects you against unforeseen expenses that may arise in the event of direct physical damage and breakdowns in solar panels, their construction, and inverters, or in situations where they need to be repaired or replaced due to damage.
-
We provide insurance for solar cells, solar panels, and inverters by all manufacturers, whether installed on rooftops or on the ground.
-
Buy solar panel insurance together with BALTA property insurance or separately, even if your property is insured with a different provider.
-
In addition, there is no need to increase the insurance amount for the building or to revise the electronic risk limits.

Frequently asked questions
We insure the entire solar panel system, including the battery if one is connected to it.
Yes, we also insure solar panels and solar panel systems installed by the client on their own, but we recommend that you consult industry experts to ensure that the solution is suitable for your specific needs.
Choose high-quality products by well-known manufacturers with appropriate mechanisms, wiring, and connections, taking into account the specifications of the solar panels. Buy specialised wires and fastening elements, because wires and fasteners intended to be used all the time have different durability ratings.
If the client has an inverter without overvoltage protection, then additional protection must be installed. We recommend installing such additional overvoltage protection even if the inverter already provides it. Its cost is low, but it means double protection for the inverter and the solar panels.
Additional overvoltage protection is optional, but desirable.
No, there are no such rules.
This is recommended, but will not affect the payment of compensation.
For private individual property insurance, our expert does not inspect the property. We rely on the accuracy of the information submitted by the client and the photographs provided if we request such.
If our insurance experts request additional information and, having assessed it, identify risks that may potentially increase the likelihood of damage, BALTA may amend the offer or refuse to insure the solar panels.
We will provide you with compensation for any sudden and unforeseen event unless it is listed as an exception, or unless this is a result of improper construction. If the panels are incorrectly or poorly installed and the roof collapses, if the panels are torn off in a storm, or if water starts leaking onto the fastening element, we will not compensate the damage.
If it is found that the client has incurred third-party civil liability, the injured third party will be compensated in accordance with the terms and conditions of general third-party civil liability insurance for private individuals, as well as the coverage and the limits of the policy.
The coverage takes effect once the solar panels are installed.
- The technical condition of the solar panels must be assessed by a certified specialist at least once every 10 years.
- Keep the construction documentation for the solar panels, the technical drawings and specifications for such devices as the inverter, as well as the brand of the battery and the identification number in a known and easily accessible place. Make sure you have a cleaning and maintenance contract for your solar panels.
If your solar panels are malfunctioning, operating in a wrong manner, or need to be switched off safely, follow the operating manual and descriptions of issues to identify why the solar panel is not working properly. - Make sure you have spare parts available for devices that have a limited service life or are more likely to fail (e.g., batteries). If you do not have a stock of these, make sure that these spare parts are provided by the solar panel maintenance company you have a contract with.
- At least twice a year, perform a visual inspection of the solar panels. If repairs are needed, have them performed by a certified specialist.
